Age Verification Policy
Shipp Pharmacy
Last Updated: October 29, 2025
Legal Requirement
As a licensed pharmacy in Nova Scotia, we are legally required to verify that all customers purchasing nicotine products are at least 18 years of age. This policy complies with the Tobacco Access Act of Nova Scotia and federal tobacco regulations.
1. Policy Statement
Shipp Pharmacy is committed to preventing underage access to nicotine products. We require all customers to complete a rigorous age verification process before they are permitted to purchase any nicotine-containing products from our online pharmacy.
No exceptions will be made to this policy. Age verification is mandatory and non-negotiable.
2. Age Requirement
You must be 18 years of age or older to purchase nicotine products from Shipp Pharmacy.
This is in compliance with Nova Scotia's minimum age requirement for nicotine products.
3. Verification Process
Step 1: Account Creation
When you create an account, you will be asked to provide your date of birth. This information is used for initial age screening.
Step 2: Document Submission
Before you can complete a purchase, you must submit a clear photo or scan of an accepted government-issued identification document. Accepted documents include:
- Canadian Driver's License (any province or territory)
- Canadian Passport
- Canadian Provincial or Territorial ID Card
- Canadian Citizenship Card with photo
Document Requirements:
- • Must be current and not expired
- • Photo must be clear and legible
- • All text and information must be readable
- • Date of birth must be clearly visible
- • Photo ID must match the account holder
Step 3: Manual Review
All verification documents are manually reviewed by licensed pharmacy staff to ensure authenticity and accuracy. This process typically takes 1-2 business days.
Step 4: Approval or Rejection
Once reviewed, you will receive an email notification with the verification decision:
- Approved: You can immediately begin making purchases
- Rejected: You will be informed of the reason and may resubmit with corrected documentation
- Additional Information Required: You may be asked to provide additional documentation or clarification
4. Delivery Verification
Age verification does not end when you place an order. As an additional safeguard:
- Delivery personnel may request to see valid government-issued ID upon delivery
- The recipient must be 18 years of age or older
- If age cannot be verified at delivery, the package will not be released
- Signature confirmation may be required
Important: Packages that cannot be delivered due to failed age verification will be returned to us. Shipping fees are non-refundable in such cases, and you will be responsible for any return shipping charges.
5. Document Security and Privacy
We take the security of your personal information seriously:
- All documents are transmitted using SSL/TLS encryption
- Documents are stored securely in encrypted format
- Access is restricted to authorized pharmacy staff only
- Documents are retained only as long as required by law
- We comply with all Canadian privacy laws (PIPEDA)
- Your information is never shared with third parties (except as required by law)
For more information about how we protect your privacy, see our Privacy Policy.
6. Common Rejection Reasons
Verification may be rejected for the following reasons:
Underage
The document shows the customer is under 18 years of age
Expired Document
The identification document has expired
Unclear or Illegible
The photo is blurry, dark, or information cannot be read clearly
Unaccepted Document Type
The document type is not on our accepted list
Information Mismatch
The name or information on the document doesn't match the account
Suspected Fraud
The document appears altered, fake, or suspicious
7. Resubmission Process
If your verification is rejected, you may resubmit documentation:
- Review the rejection reason provided in your email notification
- Address the specific issues noted
- Take a new, clear photo of your identification
- Submit through your account dashboard
Note: Repeated rejections or suspected fraudulent submissions may result in permanent account suspension and reporting to appropriate authorities.
8. Compliance and Legal Authority
This policy is implemented in accordance with:
- Nova Scotia Tobacco Access Act
- Federal Tobacco and Vaping Products Act
- Provincial pharmacy licensing regulations
- Canadian Youth Criminal Justice Act (selling to minors)
Violations of age restrictions are criminal offenses. We cooperate fully with law enforcement and regulatory authorities to prevent underage access to nicotine products.

Attempting to circumvent age verification is illegal and will result in:
- Immediate account termination
- Order cancellation without refund
- Reporting to law enforcement authorities
- Potential criminal charges
- Permanent ban from using our services
